Skypace is the ocean freight division of Maxton Shipping Inc., an FMC-licensed NVOCC (OTI license 027662) headquartered in California. Skypace runs ocean freight and 4PL programs for 200+ organizations in 20+ countries, under commercial contracts with nine ocean carriers.
When a shipper awards a logistics program, the first ninety days decide how it will run for years. Routing guides, SOPs, data connections, escalation paths and the first scorecard are all set during onboarding. Because a program that starts without them spends its first year correcting itself, Skypace runs onboarding as a managed implementation with a plan, an owner and exit criteria.
The Implementation Manager, 3PL Customer Programs is that owner. The role takes a new customer program from award to steady state: requirements, SOPs, integrations, testing, go-live and hypercare. It then hands the program to the program manager with a baseline scorecard in place.
Compensation: $95,000 to $125,000 base salary, plus an annual bonus tied to implementation milestones.
Location: Remote, United States, with travel to customer sites for kickoffs, design sessions and go-lives.
Implementation Scorecard:
- Days from award to first booking, and from first booking to steady state;
- Milestones met against the implementation plan;
- SOPs, routing guide and escalation matrix signed off before go-live;
- Data connections accepted: EDI, API or file-based messages tested end to end;
- Customer, supplier and partner users trained and active;
- Hypercare exit on plan, with open issues inside the agreed threshold;
- Baseline scorecard delivered at day 30, 60 and 90.
What You Will Do:
Plan and govern
- Build the implementation plan with the customer: scope, milestones, owners, risks and exit criteria;
- Run the kickoff, weekly governance and steering updates through hypercare;
- Manage scope changes through a documented change process.
Design the program
- Gather requirements: lanes, volumes, Incoterms, suppliers, documents, approvals, reporting;
- Write SOPs, the routing guide and the escalation matrix with the customer's logistics, procurement and compliance teams;
- Define the program scorecard and its data sources with the program manager and the analyst.
Connect and test
- Coordinate EDI, API or file-based connections between the customer's ERP or TMS and the Skypace platform;
- Lead user acceptance testing on bookings, milestones, documents and invoices;
- Onboard and train customer users, suppliers and origin partners.
Go live and stabilize
- Run cutover and the first shipments with operations;
- Lead hypercare: daily issue review, root causes and fixes;
- Hand over to the program manager with the baseline scorecard and the open-items log.
Operational Interfaces:
- Customer side: logistics and supply chain program managers, procurement, IT and ERP teams, trade compliance, suppliers;
- Skypace side: program managers, operations, platform and integration team, carrier procurement, finance.
You're a Fit If:
- 5+ years in logistics implementation, onboarding or program management at a shipper, 3PL, forwarder or logistics technology provider;
- Experience taking a logistics program or system from award through go-live and hypercare;
- Working knowledge of international freight: bookings, milestones, documents, customs interfaces, Incoterms 2020;
- Experience with EDI or API integration projects and user acceptance testing, with ERP or TMS exposure;
- Skill in writing SOPs and running governance meetings;
- PMP, Lean or Six Sigma training is useful.
This role decides how a customer program starts. The SOPs, connections and scorecard set in the first ninety days stay in use for the life of the contract. Skypace applies structured systems to booking, tracking and audit, and relies on experienced implementation managers to fit them to the way each shipper works.
Professionally, the role gives exposure to the logistics operations of shippers in several industries and to the integration work between their systems and a forwarding platform.
