Requirements
Licensed Customs Broker with extensive experience in managing customs operations for various modes of transportation and commodities.
Deep understanding of customs regulations, tariff classifications, valuation, and duty/tax implications.
Proven leadership experience with the ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement and operational excellence.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with technical teams, clients, and regulatory authorities.
Experience in guiding software or product development, with the ability to translate operational needs into technical requirements.
Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate industry trends, regulatory changes, and their implications for the business.
Responsibilities
Customs Compliance and Strategy: Develop and maintain comprehensive customs compliance strategies for various modes of transportation and commodities. Stay abreast of regulatory changes and ensure all procedures and documentation meet current legal requirements.
Team Leadership and Development: Build, lead, and mentor a team of customs professionals. Provide training and resources to ensure the team is knowledgeable and capable of handling a wide range of customs scenarios and challenges.
Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve customs processes and workflows to increase efficiency, reduce clearance times, and minimize costs. Implement best practices and innovative solutions for customs brokerage.
Client Advisory: Serve as the primary customs expert for clients, providing guidance on classification, valuation, duty/tax recovery, and compliance matters. Help clients navigate complex customs regulations and optimize their trade activities.
Software and Product Development Collaboration: Work closely with the software development and product management teams to map out workflow processes in the system. Clearly communicate the operational requirements and user expectations to guide the development of a user-friendly, compliant, and efficient customs brokerage platform.
Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with customs authorities, clients, carriers, and other stakeholders. Represent Skypace in industry forums, seminars, and regulatory meetings.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks in customs operations and develop strategies to mitigate them. Ensure all customs brokerage activities adhere to corporate governance and control standards.
